The economy is in a recession and money is in short order. It will be terrible if our gardening hobby becomes too expensive and we have to give up on our greens.
Actually, a little bit of innovation can go a long way if the budget is tight. We should always comparison shop and try to get fantastic bargains at markets and jumble sales.
Also, start from seedlings is cheaper than buying a big plant. Better still, get some leaf or root cuttings from friends or neighbors to save on seed money.
Old sinks, watering cans, buckets and wooden crates make great plant containers – just be sure to drill some holes in the bottom for drainage.
